A ruggedand beautiful place. The people are very friendly and charming. Yet there is a lot of poverty and HIV/AIDS has ravaged this nation.

The people are amazing and if your traveling from sani pass try to bring some wood to give to the locals for fire... You are much higher than the tree line and they must hike for days to retreive wood for fire.

Poor but beautiful country, very dry and mountainous

A revolution broke out here a couple of hours after I left back in 1998. I often wonder what happened to the nice couple who asked me how it was as they were thinking of going, and I told them airily that there were no problems...as indeed there weren't until a couple of hours later. I hope to hell they were OK!

Lesotho is a beautiful kingdom in South Africa, it can be described as highlands with a hight of up to 3000m. THe most famous route is the way from SA to Lesotho through the SANI PASS.....if u are there and have 4x4 it is a must and an adventure
