"A few months in Bhutan"
about 1 month and 1 week ago
Back in the fall of 1986 I got the opportunity to go to Bhutan as a long stay visitor. A friend had been working there and his contacts with the Bhutanese authorities got me a six month visa to stay in the country. Spent a good deal of time living just outside a little village called Khaling on the eastern side of the country and enjoyed myself, especially when they had Tsechu festivals and opportunities to interact with the Drukpa tribes that live around this area.
Altogether a fascinating place-something like time traveling in many ways!!

Beautiful country, just saw a glimpse of it as I passed the border with India, to travel in Bhutan you need lots of money cuz of the so-called development tax!
